Sammamish Plateau Water is a member of Cascade Water Alliance. Cascade's mission is to provide water supply to meet the current and future needs of its members in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner. Cascade achieves this goal through partnerships, water efficiency programs, water supply infrastructure acquisition, construction and management, and regional water planning. Cascade is a municipal corporation comprised of seven municipalities (five cites and two water and sewer districts) in the Puget Sound region that work together to provide a safe, clean, and reliable water supply to its 350,000 residences and more than 20,000 businesses. Cascade Water Alliance members include Sammamish Plateau Water, the cities of Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond and Tukwila, and Skyway Water and Sewer District.
Cascade is governed by a board of directors consisting of one individual representative each member’s legislative body. Cascade secures contracts to provide water on a regional basis to meet its member needs. To fund Cascade operations, each member pays annual dues to cover administrative costs based on utility size, fees for water conservation program implementation, and charges based on the amount of water needed annually.
