Septic System Resources

If you live in a rural area, your wastewater is disposed of through a septic system. If you live in an urban area, you may still be using a septic system. If you are not sure, you can contact the District to determine if your property utilizes a septic system, or is connected to the District’s sewer system.

If you are using a septic system, below are links to some great resources for information from King County Public Health and the Washington Department of Health. Learn more about how septic systems operate, why it is important to properly maintain them, and simple, every-day tips to help avoid costly system repairs or replacements.

Please note that King County has jurisdiction over septic systems, and that Sammamish Plateau Water has jurisdiction over the sewer system infrastructure within the District’s service territory, including urban areas as defined by King County’s Urban Growth boundary.
