Sammamish Plateau Water is seeking qualified applicants for an appointment to fill the vacant Position #3 on the District’s Board of Commissioners. This is a dynamic position that involves solid working relationships and interaction with regulatory agencies, ratepayers, community leaders, and industry organizations. The appointed candidate will make critical decisions that safeguard the resources and services of District customers. The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. on November 23, 2020.

Eligibility

Qualified candidates must be (1) a United States citizen, (2) at least eighteen years of age, and (3) a registered voter residing within District boundaries.

Commissioner, Position #3

The appointed applicant will serve until the next general election in November 2021. The appointed applicant must file for election to Commissioner Position #3 during the 2021 filing period if the appointed applicant desires to continue to serve in the position after the November 2021 election. Once the results of the November 2021 election are certified, the elected commissioner will immediately take office and serve the remainder of the Position #3 six-year term, which will expire December 31, 2021. If the appointed candidate is elected to a new six-year term at the November 2021 election, the new term would commence in January 2022 and expire on December 31, 2027.

Board of Commissioners

The District is governed by an elected five-member Board of Commissioners. The Board sets policy and provides direction and guidance to District staff through a strategic planning process. They represent the District in communicating perspectives on regional partnerships and issues of importance to the District, while also addressing the concerns of customers.

The Board of Commissioners’ meetings are held on the first three Mondays of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the District Office located at 1510 228th Ave SE, Sammamish, WA 98075.
